About SSH
The Social Services Hospital (SSH) is a pioneering humanitarian medical institution founded in 1951. It was the first specialized center in the city of Tripoli dedicated to the care of the elderly and persons with disabilities. Over more than seven decades, the hospital has evolved from a social care home into an integrated institution providing long-term medical, nursing, rehabilitative, psychological, and diagnostic services. The hospital occupies a central position within the healthcare and social protection system in North Lebanon, as an institution that combines humanitarian mission with specialized medical services, responding to the needs of the most vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly, patients with chronic diseases, persons with disabilities, and individuals with psychological and neurological disorders.
\The hospital plays a vital role in addressing a growing gap in the Lebanese healthcare system amid an aging population, declining public hospital capacity, and increasing economic and social pressures.
Providing an integrated system of long-term medical and social care under one institutional umbrella.
Alleviating pressure on hospitals by accommodating long-stay and rehabilitation cases.
Serving as a reference center for elderly care, rehabilitation, and mental health, particularly in North Lebanon.
Offering accessible diagnostic and outpatient services to residents and the broader community.
Expanding humanitarian impact through home healthcare programs and supportive services.
Accordingly, the hospital constitutes a cornerstone of health and social protection in North Lebanon.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Social Services Hospital, a humanitarian institution that has carried, for more than 75 years, a noble mission centered on caring for people and preserving their dignity, without discrimination. This mission stems from our firm belief that healthcare and social care are a fundamental right for every individual and a shared responsibility toward our community.
Since the establishment of the parent association in 1951 as a home for the elderly, it embarked on a journey marked by a series of humanitarian initiatives, foremost among them the establishment of “Dar Al-Ajaza” (Home for the Elderly) in one of the sections of Abu Samra Governmental Hospital, which dates back to 1912. In 1954, the Association took over the entire hospital building and dedicated it to the same purpose, thus beginning a longstanding journey of service, care, and compassion.
Since then and to this day, the hospital has been far more than an institution providing medical and care services. It has served as a safe home and a humanitarian haven for older persons, persons with disabilities, and patients requiring long-term care. We have remained committed to providing an integrated environment that combines specialized medical care, psychological and social support, and the protection of human dignity and rights, ensuring a safer, more secure, and more humane quality of life for those entrusted to our care.
Our mission is rooted in providing comprehensive healthcare and social services in accordance with the highest standards of quality and safety. This is made possible through a qualified and dedicated team that continuously strives to improve performance, modernize services, and adopt best medical and administrative practices in response to the needs and expectations of those we serve.
Believing that sustainable development is the foundation of continuity and excellence, we are moving forward with determination to implement strategic projects that will contribute to advancing the state of healthcare and social care in Lebanon. At the forefront of these initiatives is the New Hospital Project, an ambitious vision for the future aimed at providing more advanced services, strengthening our capacity to serve the community, and ensuring the sustainability of our humanitarian mission for generations to come.
The achievements we have made over the years are the result of the collaboration and collective efforts of the Board of Directors, executive management, employees, and volunteers. They are also the result of the continuous support and partnerships of all those who believe in the mission and value of this longstanding humanitarian institution—for society as a whole, and especially for the older persons and persons with disabilities who are entrusted to our care. Their support has helped ensure the hospital’s continuity despite the crises and difficult circumstances Lebanon has endured.
I warmly welcome you once again, thank you for your interest, and invite you to discover the hospital’s services and humanitarian mission, and to contribute to supporting its journey. Together, we can continue building a healthier, more dignified, and more humane future for everyone in need of care.
With my sincere appreciation and respect,
