Bassel El-Osta is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon
with extensive international training and clinical experience,
particularly in adult and pediatric orthopedics, limb reconstruction,
joint replacement, complex trauma, and foot and ankle surgery.
Practicing as a Trauma & Orthopedic and Pediatric Orthopedic
Consultant in Tripoli since 2016.
Holds an MBBS, MSc in Musculoskeletal Sciences from University College
London, MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, CCT in
Trauma & Orthopedics, and a SICOT Diploma.
Obtained a PhD in Experimental Surgery from Charles University in
Prague in 2023, focusing on an endoprosthesis device for foot-drop
correction.
Completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Trauma and Orthopedics in Prague.
His professional career includes extensive training and practice in
leading hospitals in the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic,
including Royal Free London, St George’s Hospital, Royal London
Hospital, King’s College Hospital, Luton & Dunstable Hospital,
and FN Motol in Prague.
His clinical expertise encompasses pediatric limb reconstruction,
hip and knee replacement, arthroscopy, complex trauma, fracture
fixation, and reconstructive orthopaedic surgery.
He has a strong academic and teaching profile. He has served as
Associate Professor of Anatomy at the University of Balamand,
Head of the Research Department at City University, and a biomedical
course instructor. He has also been an Advanced Trauma Life Support
instructor and an examiner for the SICOT Diploma.
Contributed to numerous research projects, international conferences,
audits, and peer-reviewed publications in orthopedic surgery and trauma.
His achievements include a US patent for an endoprosthesis design for
foot-drop correction, as well as awards for research, teaching, and
scientific presentations.
Served as SICOT National Delegate of Lebanon from 2019 to 2025 and
chaired the SICOT Fellowship Committee from 2019 to 2021.
